Cops bust Gulf job racket

Three held, 200 passports seized

The Hyderabad Police on Sunday busted a Gulf job racket on Sunday by arresting three people and seizing over 200 passports from them.

“Based on credible information, the sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (North Zone) nabbed the agents who were cheating unemployed youth and carrying the business of recruitment for deployment of Indian workers with foreign companies without any permission from Protector General of Emigration, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs,” the police said.

The cops seized 205 passports, bio-data forms of the customers from the possession of accused BV Ratnaiah, J Srinivas Rao (both agents) and G Suryanarayana, who was running the Master Manpower Corporation in Secunderabad.

Efforts are on nab three other absconding accused including M Mutthalifu, chairman of MM International Consultancy (recruiting agency), based in Tamil Nadu; Tajuddin, manager of MM International Consultancy and an employee of the agency Naseer.

The accused Rathanaiah and Srinivas, who are residents of West Godavari district, were recruiting employees for overseas jobs without any valid licence from the authorities concerned and cheating the youth by posing as licenced agents to carry on the business with foreign companies and were collecting huge amount ranging between Rs 75,000 to one lakh from each aspirant.

These agents used to send some of the resumes to the manpower consultant agencies of Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu and Mumbai by taking original passports from the customers illegally and they have illegal tie-up with job consultancy managements.

In this process, they were providing visa, air ticket, etc to the customers, even though some of the candidates used to fail in interviews or medical tests.

“The accused would not return the advance amount and original passport to the customers and kept with them illegally by making false promises to provide good job in other countries and did not return the money claiming that it was spent for processing their job visa applications and miscellaneous expenditure,” the police said.
