Cyberabad Police launch 60 SHE Teams
As part of safety to women, particularly to women employees in the IT corridor here, Cyberabad Police on Tuesday launched 60 'SHE Teams' to control eve teasing and stalking of women. These teams would be in mufti and spread themselves out in the 200 hotspots identified in Cyberabad area. They would watch out for eve teasers/stalkers at bus stops, colleges among other places, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand told reporters.
Each team would comprise of SI/ASI rank officers and women constables who would be provided with spy cams to film the acts against women as evidence, he said. “They will record the act of eve teasing/stalking in the spy cam, of persons indulging in such acts, who will be taken into custody and an awareness and counseling session will be conducted at the spot.
Such accused will also be counselled at police Headquarters immediately along with their parents and action will be taken as per law,” Anand said, adding a close watch would be kept on them in future too. The SHE Teams will react to 'Dial 100' calls and go to the scenes of crime. A SHE Teams facebook page was also launched on Tuesday.
Counseling activity, progress of cases registered and SHE Teams coordination will be done at Crime Against Women (CAW) Cell, which was started at the CP Cyberabad Office. Anand further said SHE Teams would conduct awareness campaigns in all IT companies, colleges and schools.
“Safety of women in IT corridor will be given special attention, 10 out of the 60 SHE Teams will move exclusively in the IT corridor. All the 43 Law and Order Police stations of Cyberabad Commissionerate will have "Women Help Desks" to listen to Issues/complaints brought in by women and do the initial counseling and enquiry,” he added.
