A drunken fight cost a life when a man killed his friend over a broken mobile phone during their drinking session. The incident took place on Monday in Medak district and the friends were identified to be Vijay and Sattar of Bahirwadi Colony in Kohir mandal.

Police informed that an argument sparked between the two when Sattar smashed Vijay's mobile phone to the ground after which Sattar called his brother Salim and both together hit Vijay on his head with an iron rod due to which he fell unconscious. While the brothers fled from the scene, the locals found Vijay lying in a pool of blood and took him to the local hospital where doctors declared him dead, said Zaheerabad police inspector Laxminarayana.

Demanding the arrest of the accused, Vijay’s family and other residents staged a protest in front of the police station on Monday night while the police are trying to nab the duo who attacked Vijay.
