Hyderabad: Against the backdrop of controversy raging over Section 8 between the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, the appointment of new director general for Center for Good Governance (CGG) on Wednesday has turned out to be another bone of contention between the two states.
According to the sources, citing that the CGG, being an institution under Schedule 10 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act (APRA), the AP government has issued orders appointing the Political Secretary in GAD Mukesh Kumar Meena, as its director general. The Telangana State government, which has been staking claim over the CGG, has objected to the move by the AP and termed it as a unilateral decision.
The AP government argued that the CGG is under Schedule 10 and so it has every right to appoint Director General for it. Earlier, the TS government has appointed Ramakrishna Rao as the DG of the CGG. As the issue is turning out to be a contentious issue, AP Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao has reportedly called up his counterpart Rajeev Sharma to ensure that the differences over the issue do not snowball into a controversy.
