NIMS, MNJ Cancer Hospital to extend OP, diagnostic services
Facility to be extended at all teaching hospitals in second phase
Hyderabad: Good news for government employees, pensioners and their families. They can utilise the outpatient (OP) and diagnostic services in the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and MNJ Cancer Hospital from July 1. The facility will be extended to all teaching hospitals – Osmania, Gandhi and Kakatiya Medical Colleges – in the second phase.
At present, the employees, pensioners and their families are eligible to secure inpatient services only. The decision to extend OP and Diagnostic services to employees and pensioners was taken on Friday at a meeting the Minister for Health Dr C Lakshma Reddy had with Principal Secretary for Health, NIMS director, Director Medical Eeducation and other officials of Health Department on Friday.
Meanwhile, the officials of 12 super speciality hospitals will be meeting the Minister for Health on Saturday to discuss on increase in Aroyasri tariff. It is reported that the Telangana State government has agreed to the demand of super speciality hospitals to increase the tariff by 24 per cent.
Earlier, the members of Telangana Super Speciality Hospitals Association (TESHA) rejected the Telangana government’s proposal to extend medical care to its employees based on the existing Arogyasri rates. The cashless healthcare scheme will benefit the families of about 4 lakh employees and about 2 lakh pensioners. Medical expenses of government employees and pensioners would be fully borne by the State government under the new scheme.
At present there is an upper limit on the coverage of medical expenses up to Rs. 2 lakh and coverage of about 300 ailments and procedures under the current scheme. Besides, the employees used to contribute between Rs 120 and Rs. 190 a month under the existing scheme.
