A 27 year old engineer from Hyderabad, Mohd Haneef Waseem, who joined the dreaded terrorist organisation Islamic State, died in Syria. Haneef completed his engineering in Hyderabad four yeas ago and then graduated in Masters from London. As per the reports, Haneef got attracted to the Islamic State via social media and he moved to Syria this February from London.

Ten days ago, the Islamic State sent a text message in Arabic to Haneef's parents informing of Haneef's death. The parents, who live in Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad, immediately informed the city police. The police are now investigating about how Haneef could have joined Syria and if he had encouraged any city youths to follow him.

Intelligence sources say that the reason behind Haneef's death are unknown and stated that he could have either died fighting in an attack or in a landmine blast. Apparently, Haneef died in March and is said to be buried by the Islamic State terrorists.

This incident has once again raised concerns over several educated youth taking to terrorist activities. Last year, the Hyderabad police foild six attempts of city youths who planned to join several terror organisations. Two of them were engineers and one was a Google employee.
