TDP Coordinator for Party Workers' Welfare Fund Nara Lokesh's first day in the United States was grand success as the scion of Nara Chandrababu Naidu managed to convince 126 NRIs to adopt villages of Andhra Pradesh. Lokesh who is on 10-day visit to the US to draw investments to the successor state of AP, brought 126 individuals from NRI community on board to sign for adoption of Smart Village-Smart Ward Programme thus to build a Smart AP. Lokesh has explained the Smart Village Adoption Programme to NRIs at a huge gathering in Los Angeles.
Lokesh has given a power-point presentation (PPT) on the necessity of developing villages/ wards for a Smart AP and asked NRIs to adopt their native village or any other village of their choice. Following his presentation, as many as 126 individuals agreed to support their villages and several others came forward to join in a week. Some people said though their villages were already adopted by others, they assured that they would adopt some poor villages in Srikakulam district.
Earlier, Lokesh and his team was received with warm welcome by Bay Area NRI TDP at San Francisco and taken in a procession. Several local leaders like Ravi Alapati, Chandrasekhar Mangineni, Hari, Madhu and others took an active role in organising the meet. He kickstarted his tour with 'Meet & Greet program' at Hotel Sheraton Cerritos in Los Angeles on Sunday, where over 600 NRIs greeted him.
During his 10-day visit, Lokesh will be meeting the governors of various states in the US. Lokesh will be meeting none other than US President Barack Obama on May 7. Lokesh's US tour has become a subject of hot debate in political and government circles. Lokesh would address NRI meetings at San Jose , New Jersey and Dallas .On other hand, Telangana IT Minister and son of KCR KT Ramarao is on his 15-day visit to US and going to invite NRIs to invest in IT/aided sectors in Telangana and its state government's flagship programmes like Water Grid, Mission Kakatiya. On whole, the arrival of Lokesh and KTR in US has turned the atmosphere among NRI community.
