Washington: The US believes that India should take necessary steps to improve its good relations with the neighbours, a senior administration official has said.
"We believe that India should have good relationships with its neighbours as well and take steps to improve those relationships," State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf said on Friday.
Harf, 33, said the US shared strong relationships with both India and Pakistan.
"They're both strong, they're both vital to our strategic interests, and they both stand on their own," she said.
She said the recent visit of US President Barack Obama to India was a very important one.
"There was a good agenda, again, that came out of the visit that we're looking forward to working on," she added.
