NEW DELHI: A Jet Airways plane from Mumbai to Dubai has made emergency landing in Muscat after a midair bomb threat.
All passengers on board the aircraft are safe and have been deplaned.
The plane has been isolated and the necessary checks are under way.
The airport was closed for 5 to 10 minutes following the bomb scare, according to a report in the Times of Oman.
According to TV reports, a call was made to a call centre informing about the bomb threat.
The threat was reported in flight number 9W 536 which had left Mumbai at 12.25pm.
A statement from Jet Airways read that flight 9W 536 which departed from Mumbai at 12.46pm for Dubai, has been diverted to Muscat due to a security alert.
Riyaz Kuttery, general manager of Jet Airways, Oman, was quoted as saying, "It was taken to an isolated bay and all the passengers were evacuated. The flight is right now grounded at Muscat International Airport and we are waiting for clearances from the concerned authorities to fly again."
There were 54 passengers and 7 crew members on board the flight.
Recently, a Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Delhi after a threat message was scribbled on the mirror of one of the washrooms of the aircraft.
