Telangana governmen,Andhra Pradesh,Central Water Commission,Palamuru Rangareddy,TS rebuts AP govt charges on Dindi,Palamuru projects
Taking strong objection to the letter written by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to the Central Water Commission in regard to the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS), the Telangana government rebutted the charges in a letter to the AP Irrigation department.
The Telangana government clarified that the Palamuru and Dindi lift irrigation schemes were not new projects as administrative sanction for Palamuru Ranga Reddy LI project was accorded in 2013 by the undivided AP government. Similarly, administrative sanction for Dindi Balancing reservoir was also accorded in the year 2007 by Government of AP.
The letter said that both these two projects were very important for meeting the basic needs of the people of TS in general and Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy districts in particular. The Palamuru LI scheme envisages to irrigate the upland areas of about 10 lakh acres, supply drinking water to Hyderabad city and industrial use in Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts.
The Dindi project envisages to provide drinking water to Flourosis affected areas of the Devarkonda and Munugodu Constitutencies of Nalgonda district and some parts of Achampet and Kalwakurthy constituencies of Mahabubanagar districts by lifting the flood water from foreshore of Srisailam Reservoir to Dindi Reservoir at 0.5 TMC per day for 60 days.
Both the projects are within the Krishna basin and the Government of TS is at full liberty to take up these projects as sanctioned by the erstwhile government, the letter said.
