From few days he was critically ill and he  has been admitted to the Care Hospital in Banjara Hills and has been placed on ventillator.He represented the Peddapalli constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is popularly known as Kaka or Gudisela Venkataswamy.

Popularly known as Kaka, Venkatswami is a freedom fighter and waged a battle against the tyrannical rule of Nizam. He was a union minister and was a CWC member. He Survived with Two Son’s and three Daughters . His sons G Vivek and G Vinod were MP and MLA respectively. Vivek had owned as Media V6 News.

Khaka known for his rebellious attitude and in 2011 he demanded the resignation of Sonia Gandhi as party chief.He had demanded that Italy-born Sonia Gandhi step down as party chief and make way for an "Indian"
