VIJAYAWADA:  Are you worried about the safety of your loved ones when they travel alone? Have you ever thought that a mobile application can give a sense of security when the police officials are tracking the route and giving the updates on your mobile phone till he or she safely reaches the destination?

There is no need to worry anymore, say Vijayawada police, who developed ‘4th Lion’ mobile application in which there is an option (Track My Travel) to track the whereabouts of your dear ones, without much trouble.

All android users can freely download it from the Google Store and the main aim of this app is to provide an opportunity for the public to report the offences and get immediate help. As many as 12 services are available in this app like Save Our Soul, Register Complaint, Suggestions, Public Transport Complaints, e-Challan, FIR Case Status, Vacation Information, Wholesale Rates, Movies Information and Bus/Train/Flight Timings.

The city police chose Hyderabad-based Empover i-Tech Private Limited as their IT partner to automate these services. “To provide security for women who are travelling alone, we have created this app. Citizens, while leaving the house locked and going for vacation or any purpose, can inform the Vijayawada Police to secure their premises through this app. The people are allowed to register the complaints regarding public transportation, know the prices of groceries or vegetables and get details about the latest movies in the nearby theatres with this app,” said commissioner of police AB Venkateswara Rao.

A separate team has been set up to monitor this app in the control room, which will send the messages to nearby police officials in case of emergency. The police department is planning to upgrade the app where people can pay the e-Challan through this app. At present, the app is only available for android users and soon iphone and Windows mobile phone users can download it.
