New Delhi: Union Financial Minister Arun Jaitley today more or less ruled out the possibility of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media today in New Delhi on the one year performance of the NDA government, Arun Jaitley said the central government is in fact proposing to give more fund allocations than what the state would get by way of the special status.
Stating that the central government has already fulfilled some of the assurances made in the state bifurcation act, the union minister said the government was in the process of fulfilling the remaining promises made in the act.
Though an assurance was made in the past for granting the special status to AP, the central government was not taking it up as there was no mention of the issue in the 14th finance commission report.
The NDA government was trying to find ways to solve this problem, the minister said.
Since AP has lost Hyderabad city, the minister said sufficient fund allocations will be done to AP, the minister said.
