Shamshabad Airport,Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA)
In view of probable terror attack, Telangana Cops sent a proposal to Union Civil Aviation Ministry informing about the necessity to deploy anti-terror unit Organisation for Counter Terrorist Operations (Octopus) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
During a recent meeting with Civil Aviation and Airport Management, Telangana Police stressed the need for permanent deployment of Octopus personnel at RGIA due to frequent terror alerts. City Cops have taken up the issue seriously after the arrest of ISIS supporters and hence the proposal was sent to the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Currently, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is looking after the internal security and Cyberabad Police is taking care of external security at Shamshabad airport. If Union Civil Aviation Ministry gives the nod, Octopus will be providing security both inside and outside the RGIA.
