Hyderabad: A total of 21,318 candidates turned out for certificate verification process till the last count on Friday for admissions into engineering colleges in the State through Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS-Eamcet). This year, the average turnout of candidates stood at 71.1 per cent against 60 per cent turnout the last year.

Going by region-wise, 19,447 candidates appeared from Osmania University region, 1,019 from Andhra University region, 667 from Sri Venkateswara University region and 175 non-locals. B Srinivas, Camp Officer, Eamcet said average turnout of the candidates increased due to commencement of admission process in the month of June only.

Last year, the admission process started in the month of July. As per the Supreme Court orders the entire admission process would be completed before July-end and classes would commence from August 1, he added. The Camp Officer appealed to candidates to attend the certificate verification as per the day-wise schedule mentioned.
