Aspiring to strengthen the organisation of ruling BJP in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, BJP president Amit Shah is all set to visit the new states on Jan 8 and Jan 9 respectively. Amit will be holding a meeting of BJP's Telangana office- bearers on January 8, confirmed state unit president and MLA G Kishan Reddy. The agenda would be to discuss the membership drive and strengthening the organisation in the state, he said.

BJP has been focusing on improving its presence in the southern and eastern states. Compared to its previous track record, BJP did pretty well in the two Telugu-speaking states in the 2014 elections in alliance with TDP. Its performance was particularly impressive in Andhra Pradesh as it bagged two Lok Sabha seats and four Assembly constituencies. BJP is now a partner in government in the state.

Several senior leaders from various parties including YSR Congress, Congress are expected to join the BJP fold in presence of Amit Shah.  Since Amit is the champion behind BJP's phenomenal victory in 2014 Lok Sabha polls and a great strategist, the opposition parties ini the new states are little worried over Amit's visit.
