Accuses Irrigation Minister of ‘conspiring’ to split TRS

Hyderabad: Continuing his tirade against Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday made some controversial remarks against former. He alleged that Harish Rao was hatching a conspiracy to split the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

Despite facing wrath from the TRS leadership for allegations against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Revanth Reddy made it to the Telangana CMO and handed over a copy of court verdict cancelling Parliamentary Secretaries’ posts.

Speaking to media persons later, Revanth Reddy alleged that Harish Rao had ‘hatched’ a conspiracy to split the TRS to ‘become’ Chief Minister by ‘dethroning’ Chandrashekar Rao. He also accused Harish of trying earlier to merge the TRS into the Congress. Finance Minister Etela Rajender was a witness to this episode, he added.

As Harish Rao and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao were at ‘loggerheads’ for some time, Chandrashekar Rao, who had failed to unite them, was touring the districts, he charged. He also slammed Ministers T Srinivas Yadav and Tummala Nageswar Rao for switching loyalties to the TRS from the TDP. “Harish is frequently in touch with some of the Congress leaders for the purpose,” he alleged.

When asked, Revanth Reddy said the issue of extending support to Harish Rao in the event of a split in the TRS would be discussed in the TDP politburo. It may be noted that Revanth Reddy invited wrath from the ruling party, including the Chief Minister for making similar remarks some time ago. During the Assembly session before the Budget session, Revanth Reddy had said in the lobbies that Harish could make a better Chief Minister than Candrashekar Rao.
