Rajahmundry: Sathenapalli Assembly segment in Guntur district is going to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records soon for construction of 20,000 Individual Sanitary Latrines in a record 150 days as part of Swachh Bharat programme.
AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, who came here to participate in a programme, said here on Saturday that by bringing about awareness on maintenance of sanitation and hygiene, a large number of people in the segment were motivated to construct ISLs in a record time and added that all the ISL were geo-tagged.
He said that representatives from Unicef and World Bank visited the segment to see for themselves how such a large number of ISLs were constructed in a short time.
The Speaker said, “Whoever invites me to take part in the movement for construction of ISLs as part of Swachh Bharat programme, I will attend it.”
The Speaker who arrived here to take part in a private programme told newsmen that AP was a fit case to get special status and ruled out any similar demand from other states. He appealed to the Centre to support the AP by according such status. The Speaker also said the state government was making all efforts to hold Assembly sessions in AP as early as possible.
