Hyderabad: As avalanches swept across the Everest South base camp, parents of 28-year-old Hyderabad techie, Neilima Pudota, who is on a base camp expedition, have been trying to trace her.
Ms Neilima’s parents said she had called on Saturday morning, telling them that she was at a height of 4600 metres and was just four day away from the base camp.
The trip organisers were confident that Neelima and her group were completely safe but couldn’t establish contact because of lack of a communication network.
Ms Pudota, a Cognizant Technology Services employee, was one of three to be selected from India for an Everest base camp expedition organised by WeRamblers. She had left New Delhi for Kathmandu on April 19 for the Everest South base camp trek. “She spoke to us last on an emergency number. Her voice was very low,” said Ms Neilima’s father Mr P. Showraiah.
Since then they haven’t heard from her. Even the trek organisers have failed to locate the group. Several avalanches have been reported on the Everest since Saturday’s earthquake with the base camp itself being partially destroyed.
