Nellore tourism development gets Rs 100 cr grant

Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism & Culture Dr. Mahesh Sharma visited the Indian Institute of Travel & Tourism in Nellore today. The Minister said India is a country known for its lavish treatment to all visitors, no matter where they come from. Its visitor-friendly traditions, varied life styles and cultural heritage and colorful fairs and festivals held abiding attractions for the tourists. On the occasion of his visit, he announced a sum of 100 crore for the development of tourism in Nellore.

He reiterated that A total of 17224.37 (Rs. In lakhs) amount sanctioned and 2515.04 (Rs. In lakhs) amount released during 2014-15 for the state of Andhra Pradesh and a total of 720.79(Rs. In lakhs) funds sanctioned for Nellore district. In the month of January for organizing Flamingo festival Union government granted financial assistance of 10 lakhs (Rs. In lakhs) he added.

He also said that Domestic tourism is as old as the Indian society. According to available statistics, domestic tourism has grown substantially during the last one decade. Some of the recent initiatives taken by the Government to boost tourism are the best examples of the government’s dedication towards tourism and culture.
