The polling for the biennial elections to fill up 2 MLC seats of the Telangana Legislative Council from the Graduate Constituencies and 2 MLC seats of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from the Teachers constituencies will be held on March 16.
The biennial elections have been necessitated as the term of the sitting MLC Dr. K. Nageshwar Rao elected from Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad Graduates constituency and Dileep Kumar Kapilavai of Warangal-Khammam-nalgonda Graduate Constituency will end on March 29.
Similarly two sitting members of the Andhra Pradesh legislative Council from Teachers Constitutency of East-West Godavari is K.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju (Chaitancy Raju) and Krishna-Guntur Teachers Constituency K.S. lakshmana Rao will be retiring on March 29
As per the Schedule announced by the Election Commission of India, the notification will be issued on February 19, nominations will be received up to February 26, Scrutiny of nominations till February 27, Last date for withdrawal of candidature on March 2 and Date of polling march 16 and finally, Counting of votes is on March 19.
With the announcement of this schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect in the districts of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal and Khammam in Telangana districts, says a press release from the office of the chief electoral officer Bhanwarlal today.
In the State of Andhra Pradesh, the districts which will come under the force of Model Code of Conduct are Krishna, Guntur, East and West Godavari districts.
