The fate of GHMC Special Officer & Commissioner Somesh Kumar would be known on Tuesday. The 1989 batch IAS officer who is making every effort to stay put in Telangana may come to naught, say officials at the Corporation. The Pratyush Sinha Committee had in its final allocation of all-India service officers between the states of AP and Telangana had retained him in the AP cadre.
Somesh Kumar moved the Central Administrative Tribunal on the issue and the CAT took some more time and its decision was pending. Several leaders of the TRS are unhappy with his style of functioning. The property tax drive has not gone down well with the party cadre. According to a senior TRS leader of Alwal, “He has become a law unto himself. We work at the ground level have to face the brunt of the people.”
There are also reports that Somesh Kumar would continue till the GHMC polls are held which is expected to be completed by December. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had directed the general administration department (GAD) not to pay salaries to the defiant officers.
