Leadership decides to launch membership drive in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Hyderabad:
TDP is all set to become a national party. The TDP politburo, which met here on Saturday, decided to speed up the expansion of  party base into the neighbouring – Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands where the party has its presence.

The politburo meeting presided over by the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu  at the party  head office, NTR Trust Bhavan, discussed in detail the prospects of the party getting  national party status.  On the advice of the politburo, Naidu constituted a three member committee comprising Finance minister Y Ramakrishnudu, Telangana TDP senior leader R Chandrasekhar Reddy and P Keshav to prepare a plan for the promotion of party at national level.

Tentatively, the party decided to launch membership drive on May 10 in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and on May 14. The party would launch the membership drive in Andaman and Nicobar where there was a sizeable Telugu population, the committee member Chandrasekhar Reddy told the media after the meeting.  The party would discuss the response from people at the three-day party annual meeting, Mahandu, to be  held from May 27 in Hyderabad  and chalk out an action plan to strengthen the organisation in other states.

Since the party was already enjoying considerable support in AP and Telangana, Reddy said once the party secures 4 per cent votes in another three states, the TDP would get the national party status.  The politburo resolved to extend Rs 5 crore financial aid to Nepal which was devastated by massive earthquake last week. Reviewing the welfare and developmental programmes and farmers’ loan waiver schemes, Naidu instructed the leaders to create awareness among the people of both states about his government‘s endeavour in addressing the people’s grievances.
