Three policemen killed in militant attack in J&K;

Earlier in the day, militants critically injured a Sub-Inspector of J&K Police in Pattan area of Baramulla district in northern Kashmir. Three Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel were, on Monday, killed by militants wearing combat uniforms in Ashipora area in Shopian district.

“Three of our policemen were killed earlier in the day when their vehicle was stopped by militants wearing combat uniforms who asked them to get out of their vehicles and then shot them dead,” a senior police official told The Hindu.

“All of them were unarmed and they were easy targets.”

According to the police, the three slain policemen - a head constable and two constables posted at the Shopian police station - had gone to a neighbouring village to investigate a crime and were attacked when they were returning to the police station.

Earlier in the day, militants critically injured a Sub-Inspector of J&K Police in Pattan area of Baramulla district in northern Kashmir.

“One of our Sub-Inspectors, Ghulam Mustafa, of the Armed Police was shot at by two militants who were armed with pistols,” a police official told The Hindu.
