Minister asks GHMC officials to keep surveillance over people who dump garbage in open places
Hyderabad: Minister for Commercial Taxes and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) MD NVS Reddy walked around various lanes and by-lanes of West Marredpally and interacted with the residents as part of Swachh Telangana-Swachh Hyderabad phase II on Wednesday.
Noticing the overflowing sewer line near Geetha Nursing Home, the Minister instructed water board officials to immediately repair the manhole and directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials to remove the garbage dump over a manhole which is blocking the sewer line.
Responding to the request of the residents, the Minister also advised Zonal Commissioner, GHMC, Harichandana, to keep surveillance over people who were dumping building debris and other garbage in open places and to initiate action against nursing homes/hospitals which were not following scientific disposal of biomedical waste and which were dumping it in the garbage bins.
Interacting with the residents and media personnel, the Minister appealed to the residents to keep their premises and the colony free from garbage and debris. He stated that special teams have been sent by the Chief Minister to New Delhi and Nagpur to study various methods adopted to keep the cities clean, and that two-bin system for segregation of garbage would be introduced soon.
Reiterating the vision of the Chief Minister to transform Hyderabad into a global city, the Minister said every individual had to take part in Swachh Telangana-Swachh Hyderabad programme and make the vision come true. Responding to the complaint of residents that some private builder constructed a multi-storeyed building over a nala flowing through Marredpally in the cantonment area which was choking the main sewer line, NVS Reddy informed them that he would speak to CEO, Cantonment to demolish the illegal structure.
Senior officials of GHMC, HMWS&SB, HMR, many senior citizens, women and other residents of Marredpally participated in the Swachh Telangana-Swachh Hyderabad phase II programme.
