TOWARDS REALISITION OF A GOAL
Hyderabad: The State government proposes to set up a temporary building for Telangana High Court in Gachibowli area, according to Law Minister A Indrakaran Reddy. Replying to a question during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly, the minister said that the government would begin the process for recruitment for different posts soon after the establishment of separate Telangana High Court. Besides making appointment of Junior Judges, all other vacant posts too would be filled. He said a library for junior lawyers would also be set up.
Disclosing the details of expenditures incurred on Government Pleaders and Standing Counsels, the minister said that the each Government Pleader is paid Rs 55,000 per month and Special Government Pleaders is paid Rs 75,000 per month. Standing Counsels are paid a minimum monthly honorarium of Rs 15,000 and also more, if the retainer fee and case wise fee exceeds Rs 15,000 per month on average as per willingness of the Standing Counsels obtained at the time of taking charge. From August 2014 to February 2015, the State Government had paid Rs 21 lakh to Special Government pleaders and Rs 69.30 lakh to Government Pleaders.
The minister informed that of 4,327 cases disposed off till February, as many as 4,134 cases were in favour of the government. He said the Advocate General has been directed to review the status of pending cases once in every three months. Similarly, all District Collectors have been asked to review the pending cases on regular basis. TRS MLA M Sudheer Reddy, Congress MLA G Chinna Reddy and BJP MLAs NVSS Prabhakar and Dr K Lakshman expressed concern over rising number of pending cases. Lakshman said that the promised Rs 100 crore for Advocate Welfare Fund was not yet released.
