Uber and Ola cab services to be blocked in Delhi
The Delhi officials recently contacted the ministry of Information Technology to block the U.S based Cab company’s app “Uber” as well as the Indian company’s app “Ola”. These apps aided in booking cabs at any given time.
These companies license application is still pending and the ban has been ineffective as the companies still kept operating in Delhi. The IP address of these companies website were blocked however the apps were still functioning.
The Delhi authorities introduced the ban after one of the Uber’s contracted cab driver rape incident that shook the nation’s capital. The authorities also gave a stern warning to both the companies to stop their operations till the applications process is complete. Apart from these companies, Indian government edict a standstill to all the unregistered web-based cab services.
Ola recently joined the Rs 1,000 crore club and Uber’s estimated value is over $40 million dollars. India offers a huge opportunity for both the companies.
