Vinod criticises Centre,A.P. Council seats
Floor Leader of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Lok Sabha B. Vinod Kumar criticised the Centre for taking a decision to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, to increase the number of seats in the A.P. Legislative Council by promulgating an ordinance when several pressing issues in the Act needed attention.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday after the Union Cabinet’s nod to amend the bifurcation act to increase the number of MLC seats in AP by 8, the TRS MP said settling anomalies in the division of Rajya Sabha members between AP and Telangana was more important. Besides, there was no clarity on several issues in the Act, he noted.
Though Telangana had nothing to do with the increase or decrease in the number of MLC seats in AP, Mr. Kumar felt that it would be desirable if the Centre consulted both the States before taking any decision related to the Act. Stating that amending Schedule-II of the Act was more pressing, he pointed out that there was no clarity on the seven Khammam district mandals which were transferred to AP.
