Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party has said the TDP government has been pursuing anti-worker policies and is fanatically in favour of privatization. It demanded that the oil prices be rolled back“Though the global prices of crude oil have drastically fallen, the Centre and State governments have increased the prices of petrol and diesel hugely. It will have a cascading effect in the market economy and we demand rollback of prices,” party official spokesperson Jogi Ramesh told reporters here on Friday.

When the price of crude oil fell drastically, the petrol and diesel prices were reduced by a few paise and when it went up, it was passed on to the consumer by adding VAT and other taxes. While the price of crude oil per barrel was $ 104.97 when the NDA came to power, it was now $ 59.63 and it did not reflect in the petrol and diesel prices.

The YSRCP berated Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for pursuing the policy of privatization. It recalled that Naidu had promised jobs during the election campaign but failed to keep his word. Instead of creating jobs, the government had rendered several employees in Anganwadi Kendras and Raythumitra scheme unemployed.

Naidu has a history of publishing the summary of his governance called “Privatisation,” A success story of Andhra Pradesh in his term of 1999-2004 during which 54 industries were shut in the State while the nationwide figure was 84 during the corresponding period. His penchant for privatisation had rendered 40,000 jobless, he said.

“His tall claims in Visakhapatnam that Rs 37,000 crore would come in as investments has no substance. So is the case with his pronouncement that the investments would create 72,000 new jobs which translates to two jobs for Rs 1 crore,” he said.  On the High Court verdict in favour of Thulluru farmers, Ramesh said, “We welcome the verdict. The farmers who are not willing to part with their land always have the support of our Party.”
