The Ratnachal Express train was set on fire and a huge panic was created by hundreds of unruly protestors who went maniacal during the Kapu Aikya Garjana agitation which was called by the former Kakinada MP Mudragada Padmanabham in Tuni, East Godavari on the 31st January.
For nearly two decades, the Ratnachal Express has not just been transporting the passengers from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam but it has also been acting as a bridge that links the East and the Coastal cultures. However, for the first time in its history, the Ratnachal Express has been abandoned for a week, causing severe problems for thousands of passengers.
This morning, the train's services have been resumed, thanks to Chandrababu's intervention in replacing the charred train with a new one. However, the 24 bogie train has now been truncated to 17 bogies.
This morning, the Ratnachal Express has been welcomed with garlands by a large group of residents from Tuni and surrounding areas in the East Godavari district. The people even garlanded the driver, showcasing the real side to the East Godavari hospitality.
