In AP a major good news for the Andhra settlers in Telangana, the AP government is acting towards granting the AP local status to all the Andhra region settlers in Telangana. This move will benefit thousands of employees and students settled in Telangana who aspire to pursue government jobs and higher education in Andhra Pradesh.
The Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh submitted a report suggesting that the Andhra settlers be given local status in Andhra Pradesh. The Advocate General also suggested that the changes are to be made to the 'local status' mentioned in the President of India's orders firstissued in 1975.
Meanwhile, the union government will look into the AP government's request regarding the correction of local status in the Presidential Order and a new gazette is expected to be out by early summer in 2016. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has promised the AP government that the new orders will be issued in March 2016.
