At a media conference in Beijing, China on Wednesday, Xiaomi announced the Mi TV 3S, the latest addition to its growing TV lineup. The Mi TV 3S comes in two variants: a 65-inch 'Curved' 4K panel offering, and 43-inch flat FHD panel offering. The Mi TV 3S Curve, as the name suggests, offers a 4K curved display. It is priced at CNY 8,999 (roughly Rs. 82,500, or $1,390), and is currently only available for purchase in China. The 43-inch FHD variant, on the other hand, costs CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,500 or $278).
The Xiaomi Mi TV 3S Curve sports a 65-inch curved display of 4K resolution manufactured by Samsung. The Chinese technology conglomerate adds that its new TV is thin too, with the waistline measuring just 5.9mm. It is powered by Mstar 6A928 TV processor, 2GB of RAM, and bears 8GB of internal storage. It offers support for Dolby and DTS audio dual decoding. It comes with Mi TV bar which houses independent 6-piece sound system. The Mi TV bar's retail cost is included in the RMB 8,999 price tag of the Xiaomi Mi TV 3S Curve.
The 43-inch Mi TV 3S variant has a 10.9mm ultra-thin metal body and frame. The full-HD (1920x1080 pixels) TV is powered by Mstar 6A908 processor, and also offers support for Dolby DTS audio dual decoding. Both the models run on Android MIUI, a company spokesperson confirmed with Gadgets 360.
Once a software company, Xiaomi is aggressively expanding into other product categories. Over the past one year, the company has been actively showing interest in the TV and entertainment spaces. The company made headlines last year when it launched the Android-powered Mi TV 2 with a 55-inch 4K display at a price point of $800. Since then, it has launched a number of TV sets, including Mi TV 3 with 70-inch 4K display late last year at a price point of CNY 9,999. Earlier this month, Xiaomi had also launched the Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition TV box, which is roughly priced at $61, or Rs. 4,100. variants: 65-inch Curve, and 43-inch flat FHD.
