Yemmiganur (Kurnool): The people in Gonegondla villages are spending sleepless night following the death of a pregnant woman, Saraswathi (30), due to suspected swine flu.  Deputy District Medical and Health Officer Dr Nirmala on Sunday visited the village and met the members of the bereaved family. She sought details of symptoms the woman had. She distributed swine flu preventive medicine to the family members.

Dr Nirmal said the medicines to control swine flu were in shortly supply She promised that the District Medical and Health Department would reimburse the cost of the medicines if bill were submitted. Local Ayush doctor Quadri said he had been purchasing swine flu preventive medicine for public distribution the Medical and Health Department failed to make it available. When this was brought to Dr Nirmala’s notice, she admitted that there was shortage of medicine. It would be made available to the people once the Department received supplies.
