Within few days of announcement of the decision taken by Andhra Pradesh ruling government to built Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao statute in middle of Godavari River in Rajahmundry, the dispute has started on this issue. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has decided to install the statue where the government has also allocated funds to construction the statue on or before Godavari Pushkarams.

The statue will be erected on the lines of the Buddha statue in Hussainsagar in Hyderabad. ND Teja, a student of Rajiv Gandhi Degree College, designed the statue of the founder of the Telugu Desam Party. Many people in state especially people residing in Rajahmundry started protesting against the statute construction in Godavari River, the protests are circulating wide in social networking sites.
