Sankranthi is one of the biggest festivals in Telugu states. So, Telugu superstars like to release their films during the festival season to take advantage of long holidays. Fortunately, many things are favoring this year's Pongal outings.
Unfortunately, four films have hit the screens for Sankranthi in 2016 and Soggade Chinni Nayana is turning out to be the winner in the race with around Rs 30 crore shares, wherein Express Raja can be considered as second biggest hit for the huge profits for its budget. The Merlapaka Gandhi directorial has minted around Rs 10 crore worldwide.
NTR's Nannaku Prematho is highest grosser for the star with Rs 47 crore shares worldwide. The Sukumar directorial may not get good profits, as it was made with lavish budget. Balakrishna's Dictator takes last place in the competition with drops in second week collections. The Sri Wass directorial raked Rs 18 crores approximately.
Films like Kathakali, Kalyana Vaibhogame were supposed to release on last Friday; however both the films were postponed to other dates owing to some reasons.
Theaters will be full today on the eve of Republic Day since it is holiday again. In fact, holidays and no releases in the last week is helping Sankranthi outings to enjoy another week at the box office.
