Bree Olsen who was once touted the ‘Goddess of porn’ and the star that ruled the infamous ‘Penthouse’ cover for years opens up about her past and how it’s affecting her present.
The kind of success Bree Olsen enjoyed as an adult star, seldom anyone does. She was the reigning porn star of her time and had become one of the biggest aspirations for the younger lot who dreamt of living the kind of life she did.
The former playboy model, Bree Olsen also gained popularity for being one of the many live-in- girlfriends of Charlie Sheen.
29-year-old Olsen however decided to drop the curtains on her envious career in 2011as she hoped to live a life of respect. However, even after five years, she says, she is still struggling to leave a respectable life.
Bree last year wrote a letter and shared it on her social media accounts where she opened up about her life as a porn star and how her past image is haunting her present lifestyle and identity.
Bree confessed she was only 19 when she joined the adult industry. She recalls being a pre-med student at Purdue University when she got fascinated with the adult industry and decided to try her hand there. Bree said she was shocked to discover how much money the industry made and therefore took it up.
In the letter she wrote about how the society has been discriminating her based on her past. She spoke about being humiliated and disgraced and confessed she is depressed by it all. Bree said in the porn industry, the more successful the porn star, the more difficult it is for her to survive in the society and the more she will suffer in life.
Bree agreed she regrets her past decisions and hence wanted to tell her story to all those aspirants who are contemplating making it big in this industry. Its not worth it, she asserts!
This is what she said: “My name is Bree Olson, I'm a former porn star, and since retiring I remained silent. Silent about being discriminated. Silent about being segregated, silent about being threatened, silent about being depressed, humiliated, and disgraced. My message to young girls is to be careful. Things don't just work themselves out when you get into the industry or leave it. You become a segregated part of society that has no civil rights group behind it. Life is already hard enough, don't do this to yourself. The money isn't worth the pain of what society will put you through forever. Porn didn't hurt me. The way society treats me for having done it does.”
This letter was shared by many on the internet including by porn stars and it brought Bree a lot of positive attention. Something she was yearning for since she left the adult industry. Many who read her story, called her courageous simply for being so open about her past and for attempting to repent her mistakes and look towards a dignified future.
There were a few who criticized her message but the positive reactions overshadowed the negativity for Bree Olsen.
