Four members, including two teenagers, drowned in the Pedda Cheruvu dam in Warangal district. The four had ventured into the river for a bath when they were swept inside by the heavy currents, police said. The incident took place at Gagillapoor village of Maddur mandal. The victims had come from Hyderabad, entered the waters for a swim. While taking dip in the water, they were swept away by the strong currents and drowned on friday.
The deceased are Jo Bala Pochaiah (42), Narasimha (40), Praveen (17) and Madhu (14). The locals jumped into the water, but could not rescue them. Their bodies were fished out by police with the help of villagers. A case has been registered in this regard and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
