A triumphant Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao raised his thumb in the air to show his delight at the GHMC result on Friday evening. “People whole-heartedly wanted to see the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) win and that has led to the historic victory of the party in the GHMC elections or else any amount of effort by the party would not have led to such massive victory,” he said.
Addressing a press conference after the massive victory, the Chief Minister said that the result now will leave the party, MLAs and all public representatives with a huge burden to meet the expectations and they should not rest till that is achieved. “I promise you that our efforts would be on par with the massive expectation of the people,” he said.
One lakh houses in city
Mr. Rao said that one lakh double bedroom houses would be constructed in the city within a couple of years as the feedback from the MLAs was that there was a huge expectation from the people about the `houses' promise. “I just held a meeting with the Chief Secretary and officials and sufficient funds for the same would be allocated in the budget,” he said.
Similarly, four new hospitals on the lines of Osmania and Gandhi would be constructed within a year to meet the needs of people in all parts of the city. The King Koti Hospital would be upgraded and all these hospitals would provide corporate quality medicare free of cost, he said.
The Chief Minister particularly thanked the people from other regions for reposing faith in the TRS despite the efforts to mislead and infuse fear among them. “We will treat all people with respect and dignity and it was our constitutional obligation,” he said.
“They have proved that all Hyderabadis wanted the TRS.” He wanted the Opposition parties to realise this and play a constructive role in the development of the city and not get personal in their attacks.
Mr. Rao also made it clear that law and order would be given utmost importance and anti-social elements will be dealt with iron hand however big they may be.
