Andhra Pradesh government today released Rs 4.60 crore as first installment of the consultation fee to Malaysia to customize the Malaysian PEMANDU (Performance Management and Delivery Unit) with Andhra Pradesh requirements. Andhra Pradesh government wants to adopt the Malaysian methodology to achieve economic and administrative excellence in the implementation of projects.
The Government of India has entered in to a Memorandum of Understanding with the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), Government of Malaysia, to strengthen and further development co-operation in the field of performance management, project delivery and monitoring of Government programs through the Big Fast Results (BFR) methodology developed by Malaysia. The State Government, with intent to take advantage of the umbrella agreement of the Government of India, has decided to replicate the PEMANDU model in the state customising it with state’s requirements. The Government entered signed an agreement with PEMANDU, Malaysia in the District Collectors conference on 15th December, 2015 at Vijayawada. Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Society (APSDPS) is liaising with PEMANDU and to take all the necessary actions and steps for achieving the objectives envisaged in the agreement. The amount is released towards 35% of the contract value as per currency exchange rate as on 12.01.2016 to to take all the necessary actions and steps for achieving the objectives envisaged in the agreement. Andhra Pradesh is the first state government to work with PEMANDU to develop, implement and monitor government programs and strategic developmental plans.
As per the agreement, PEMANDU will help teams across the government with designing and implementing projects.
Under its customised ‘Big Fast Results’ methodology, PEMANDU will provide on-the-job training to the Central Coordinating Team provided by the state government and it also manages a dashboard that holds data on each ministry’s progress.
Progress will be monitored and scorecards will be updated on a weekly basis. This gives the team a chance to rigorously monitor performance.
