Telangana CM KCR is also a highly successful farmer. Last year, KCR was buoyed by the demand for ginger where wholesale agents were offering anywhere between Rs.150 to 200 per kilo and he started ginger farming in 50 acres of his Erravalli farmhouse. KCR apparently spent nearly 2 lakhs per acre.
However, the TRS supremo is in deep concern with wholesale agents not offering more than Rs. 35 per kilo now. Usually, 10 tonnes of ginger can be cultivated per acre. But, KCR implemented his trademark high end farming techniques and yielded 15 to 20 tonnes per acre.
After waiting for several days for the minimum market rate just like any other concerned farmer, KCR now got the officials from the ministry of agriculture and horticulture, who are frantically trying to convince the wholesale market agents to buy KCR's ginger for at least a minimum rate of Rs. 100 per kilo.
Troubles don't seem to end any soon for KCR as no agent is ready to buy 50 acres of ginger at once. This is a clear testimony to the pathetic plight being faced by Telangana farmers which is now experienced firsthand by KCR.
