Arvind Kejriwal Says 'My Car Attacked With Sticks And Stones In Punjab'

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted today that his car had been attacked with sticks and stones in Punjab's Ludhiana, where he is campaigning for his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

He blamed the state's ruling Akali Dal.

"My car attacked with sticks and stones in Ludhiana. Front glass pane broken. Badals n congress nervous? They can't break my spirits," Mr Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, tweeted.

His party claimed that he had a narrow escape. "The attackers came within an inch of grievously injuring Kejriwal. It was by only God's grace that he escaped unhurt," tweeted AAP leader Ashish Khetan.

Mr Khetan called it a "well-orchestrated attack" and alleged that "the goons were sent by Badals" and the police stood by doing nothing.

Mr Kejriwal is on a five-day visit to Punjab, which goes to polls later this year.

On Friday, he faced black flags and protests by reported Akali Dal and BJP workers during a public meeting at Chandigarh.

Mr Kejriwal hit out at political rivals and said he would "go to the villages and homes of people" instead of making manifestos in air-conditioned rooms.

AAP is looking to make a big splash in Punjab after it won four Parliament seats in 2014.
