Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the construction of capital city Amaravati would be completed over a period of ten years instead of the estimated 20 years, if people of Andhra Pradesh cooperated in the process.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Capital Cinemas multiplex in the newly-constructed Trendset Mall near Benz Circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu said that along with the multiplexes, the city also needs five and six star hotels. The CM said that there was a time when Hyderabad had only small shopping malls but they gave way for bigger shopping malls, which today dot the city skyline.
Also present at the event was Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu. Addressing the gathering, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said that Vijayawada is a centre for many activities. Remembering the days of his youth, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said that he had visited the city many times to watch films.
The Union minister said that people of Vijaywada have helped the government pool land for capital.
Actor D. Venkatesh, who was also present at the launch, said that movie buffs in the capital region could enjoy a world class cinema experience at the multiplexes.
Suresh of the Suresh Productions, which is also a promoter of the multiplex, said that screening of movies would be started from October 22.
