The bail petition of the accused in the Rishiteshwari suicide case will come to hearing in the district court on Friday.
The victim’s father Mondi Muralikrishna filed a petition seeking the court to add him as a defendant in the case. The petition came to hearing on Thursday. Muralikrishna’s counsel YK reminded the legal point that law has to accept the right of the victims to arrange advocates of their choice.
Acharya Nagarjuna University students Dumpa Hanisha, Jayacharan and Narala Srinivas were accused in the case, where B.Arch first year student Rishiteshwari allegedly committed suicide due to the harassment of seniors.
After hearing YK argument, Justice Gopichand issued orders accepting to include Muralikrishna as second defendant in the bail petition.
Political parties staged protests on Thursday in front of Nagarjuna University to demand justice in Rishiteshwari's case. The parties were demanding the arrest of the principal who played a major role in the death of Rishiteshwari. The principal, Babu Rao is facing allegations of encouraging ragging in the campus and ignoring the complaint of harassment filed by Rishikeswari's Father.
