MP Kavitha asked centre to set up a Turmeric research centre in Telangana

Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP K. Kavitha urged the union government to set up a turmeric research centre in Telangana. Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Kavitha sought quick solutions to the problems of turmeric farmers in the state.

“Telangana state is the largest producer of turmeric in the country. Farmers are not getting a competitive price and are facing huge losses. I request the Centre to address the problems of turmeric farmers and also consider setting up a research centre in the state,” said the Nizamabad MP.

In reply, Minister of State for Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman said, the government will study all the possibilities of establishing a research centre in Telangana state.
