The High Court on Friday paved the way to hold elections to Siddipet municipality in Medak district by refusing to stay the decision of TS government to merge five gram panchayats into the municipality.
The government issued orders by merging Prashanth Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, Gadi Cherlapalli, Imambad and Rangaratham Pally villages into Siddipet municipality. The aggrieved villagers approached HC for relief.
They pointed out that no notice was issued to the gram panchayats prior to the decision. The court granted stay on merger. Later, the government invoked its inherent power and waived the condition of notice to gram panchayats and issued fresh GO dissolving these gram panchayats.
These were also challenged. Dealing with the petitions on Friday, Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale refused to stay operation of the new GO and vacated the earlier interim order.
