Young TDP leader Nara Lokesh is planning to shift the party headquarters to Vijayawada.
Lokesh, chief party general secretary, on Tuesday held talks in this regard with the party leaders Kimidi Kala Venkat Rao, VVV Chawdhary and TD Janardhan, MLC, in Bezawada.
They also discussed a permanent location for the party office in the political capital of Andhra, which is Vijayawada. They discussed the site, a blueprint and its construction for the party office.
So far, the party headquarters has been NTR bhavan in Hyderabad. But with the TDP facing a string of defeats in Telangana, the party had to consider a shift to the region in which the party was strong.
The TDP, which was very strong to start with in Hyderabad, had been losing the party MLAs to the ruling TRS in Telangana owing to pressure and inducements. Diehard TDP leaders such as Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Yerrabelli Dayakar Rao had ditched the party and moved to the TRS.
Although Hyderabad has been declared the common capital for 10 years, the TDP has been at the receiving end, with the police, the administration and the machinery being with the TRS. So an early shift seemed to the party the better part of valour. If so, Lokesh seems to be coming good.
