Even before we forgot the dangerous Swine-Flu disease that claimed more than 1,800 lives in the country, the outbreak of highly contagious Bird-Flu was reported in Hyderabad earlier today. Multiple cases were reported and were confirmed only after receiving the lab reports from Pune.

Over one lakh birds at a poultry farm in Thorrur were reported to be infected with Bird-Flu-Virus. More than 20,000 birds of this poultry in Thorrur [Hayanth Nagar mandal, Ranga Reddy district] have already died and the officials just got the orders to kill the remaining 80,000 birds to lessen the threat. The Revenue department in Ranga Reddy & Nalgonda districts have already declared a Red-Alert regarding the consumption of birds earlier today! Since 2006, more than 6.5 million birds that were infected with bird-flu were culled in India.

FYI: Bird Flu is transmitted by the droppings of migrating birds and it can effect humans who come in contact with the infected bird. Though the symptoms sound similar to other common flu, they can turn fatal when it worsens into a respiratory disease. So, think twice before you eat chicken for few more days!
