Vizag: A four member-experts team of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is coming to Vizag on Thursday to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed metro rail project in the city.
DMRC Chief E Sreedharan, who was appointed as the chief advisor for the three proposed metro rail projects at Vizag, Vijayawada and Tirupati cities, has promised the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to submit the DPR of the Vizag and Vijayawada metro rail projects within three months to the state government. He also promised him will try to complete the Vijayawada metro rail project within next three years. Then, he also told the Chief Minister that he would like to start Vizag and Vijayawada projects simultaneously.
During his previous visit to Vizag city, he proposed three metro lines connecting the highly crowded junctions in the city. He suggested connecting of Gajuwaka-Hanumanthawaka-Maddilapalem-RTC Complex-Railway Station-Old Post Office areas with these metro lines. Three separate elevated tracks will be constructed connecting all these points.
The expert committee will conduct a thorough survey in these specific areas to assess the land requirement, boarding points etc. So, they may camp at Vizag for few days before moving to Vijayawada.
