Union Minster of State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary said that Andhra Pradesh would be getting Rs 10,000 crore by the end of this month. Disclosing this in New Delhi, the Union minister said that about Rs 7,000 crore would be given towards bridging the revenue deficit in the budget as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He said the Centre would also give another Rs 2,000 crore as assistance for the construction of new capital for Andhra Pradesh.
In addition to the funds which were already allocated, Rs 350 crore would be given additionally to the Polavaram project this year, he added. Apart from this, Rs 650 crore would also be given to the project next year, the minister revealed. The Centre would give Rs 2,000 crore every year for the next four years towards the construction of new capital. The minister said the special status, special package for Andhra Pradesh and other industrial and fiscal incentives are under the active consideration by the Central government.
Sujana Chowdary further said the Centre had also sanctioned a Solar Park for Anantapur and a positive announcement regarding the Railway Zone is likely soon, the minister averred. The AP government has expressed serious concern over the raw deal meted out to the state in the railway budget, general budget and in the devolutions in the 14th Finance Commission Recommendations. Sujana Chowdary said the Centre was looking into various grievances of the Andhra Pradesh and, several of them, are under active consideration by the Centre.
The minister said that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impress upon him over the need to help the state as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The Prime Minister is expected to review the issues related to the state and decide on extending help to AP, he said.
