AAP internal rift,Arvind Kejriwal,Prashant Bhushan,Yogendra Yadav

In line with the demands of senior leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, the Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday put out a formal statement on the party’s website about the decisions taken at its last Political Affairs Committee meeting.

This is the latest in a series of moves hinting at reconciliation between the party’s two battling factions that appears to have eased of late after a series of talks between senior leaders. Mr. Bhushan, in a letter to the party’s national executive last month criticising the functioning of the party, had highlighted the fact that decisions taken at meetings of the party’s highest internal bodies were not recorded.

“The lack of recording decisions of the NE/PAC has led to situations where decisions taken by the NE [about not seeking the support of the Congress for government formation in Delhi after we resigned last year] were repeatedly flouted,” he wrote.

Over the past four days, hectic meetings have taken place between members of Arvind Kejriwal’s camp and leaders representing Mr. Yadav and Mr. Bhushan as both sides are attempting to resolve several contentious issues regarding the functioning of the party.

The post on the AAP website said that on March 17 the PAC had taken the major decision of building and expanding its organisational footprint across the country.

“The PAC of the AAP took the decision that the triumvirate of organisational strength, strength of local leadership and political realities would be judged before deciding when and where elections will be fought. A complete list of active volunteers will be made across the country, and the party will take all decisions after involving volunteers in the process of decision-making,” the statement said.
